You photograph the pages of your child's exam material with your phone. Soihtu turns them into practice questions, your child answers on their own device and gets explanations in clear, plain Finnish — and you can see what they already know.
The app itself is in Finnish, and so are the questions and explanations it generates. This site is available in English so that you can read the terms and the privacy policy in a language you know.

Soihtu writes the questions
The questions stay on the subject of the test and at the level of your child's year group. A third-year pupil doesn't get secondary-school vocabulary, and no geography trivia strays into a maths test.
Your child practises
Your child answers on their own device. When something goes wrong, they can ask for an explanation with a single tap — no empty chat box, no wandering off.

Practice that doesn't discourage
Soihtu gives no grades and no red pen. It says clearly whether an answer was right, and helps your child onwards when it wasn't.
- Explanations in other words. Your child can ask for the same thing more simply, through an example, or with the reasoning spelled out.
- Partly right is partly right. An answer that stopped halfway is said out loud as exactly that — not as praise, not as a mistake.
- Readiness for the test shows as a campfire. The more your child practises, the brighter the flame burns — topic by topic, so the weakest spot shows.
- Encouraging messages from you. Your child sees them in their own view, not as a flood of push notifications.
You can see where things stand — before the test
No guessing whether the revision got done. You see what your child answered, what they asked about and which topic still needs another round.
- Readiness at a glance: is the test under control, or does it still need practice?
- Your child's answers and the explanations they asked for exactly as they were.
- The topics they stumble on — so you know where the evening's revision is worth starting.
- More than one adult in the same family by invitation, so both parents see the same thing.
Privacy
A child's data is the child's data
Soihtu is made for families, so privacy isn't a page stuck on afterwards. Briefly here, and at length in the privacy notice:
- No ads, no selling of data. The service lives on subscription fees.
- The data is in the EU. The database and the images are in Ireland; the AI processing is done through Google's Gemini API.
- Your child doesn't write to the AI freely. They choose a ready-made request, and the answers stay within the exam material.
- The guardian is in control of everything. A child's profile is created by an adult, and the account can be deleted in the app at any time — the data goes with it.
Seven days free, then priced by the number of children
The trial only starts from the first exam material you photograph, so none of it goes to waste. The subscription is bought in the App Store, and it can be cancelled at any time.

During the trial a family can have at most three children. The trial is a one-off: the same email address gets it once. When the trial ends, the tests already created stay there for your child to practise on, but creating new tests requires a subscription.
